I found this beautiful painting recently at a thrift store. At first glance it looks like a black cardboard or construction paper but I discovered after closer inspection that its actually a black material in which I dont know exactly what it is but it looks something like spandex. I opened up the back but because of matting I cannot get to the painting, I could see enough in a corner that the material looks to be glued to the backing around the edges, I worried about damaging the painting so a further analysis is not possible for me. There is no signature anywhere that I can see and if there is one on the lower half of the painting the matting is covering it. It is paint and not a print. I cannot find anything like this material in a search and its deffinately not velvet, can anyone help me with info on this picture?
