Old intricate British carved wooden figure

Category
Folk Art
Condition
Excellent
Description

Hello experts

I recently purchased this wonderful figure at a car boot sale. I know it is from a large stately home nearby as I know who the stall holder was. It is an intricately carved figure of a woman with a cross and carrying a basket. It is difficult to tell what kind of wood it is carved from, possibly oak although grain may be too tight for this. I reside in Scotland and think this piece may be British as oposed to European. It is signed on the back of ladies right foot 'sic' or maybe 'sir' ?.

I have attached 9 pictures to check out.

Many thanks for any information whatsoever!

Kindest regards

Alex
