Given to my mother-in-law by her grandmother in Exning,Eng. (New Market area) When she was a child. My wife was born in Exning in 1954, and emigrated to USA in 1955
It's green with a glossy finish and it seems to be ceramic. It is some sort of box with a lid and the lid has a silver colored handle. It may have been a candy dish or jewelry box?It also has 4 raised feet on the bottom.It has a crack on the lid on the corner that has been glued back together otherwise it is in great shape.
It is a square plate trimed in gold. There is a young boy standing bare footed in a corhfield holding a hoe looking up to the sky. In the clouds is the image of the White House. Across the bottom of the plate is written "Aspirations". The back of the plate is marked Marker with an arrow of sorts with 18 on one side and 40 on the other. I would like to know any history about the plate. It only made me think of my own childhood and that was the reason for the purchase.
Table is scratched due to density of wood and from moving it frequently. We have 6 chairs with a 'lumbar' curve in the wood. Original 'blue' colored cushions. One chair's back arch was replaced poorly with a piece of plywood. We have a leaf for teh table that is slightly warped. This is a heavy piece. It is a round table that extends with one leaf. I'd liek to sell it but havent' a clue as to how much it'd be worth . Considering it's numbered I feel it's worth more than the $450 we paid for it years ago.
