Full set of dinnerware, appears clay colored in worn spots near base of dishes under the black shiny finish. Black with gold design, almost Indian like, with handpainted dots of various colors. Gold trim.
This piece is fantastic, and I have the motor that goes in it. The motor needs a spring to be functional. I would keep this piece the rest of my days if I thought it would stay in the condition it is now. Everything is here with the cabinet, and it has been well kept over the years. I would just like a reliable appraisal on it, that way I know whether to believe what I was initially told about its worth. If I were to keep this cabinet, it would end up getting damaged by either kids or animals, and I don't think I could bear it.
On the back of the plate in very small thin red words it has Victoria then below that there is a Crown then toward the bottom Austria. On the front of the plate, in black script writting Kaufmann is on both sides of the plate just underneath the each group of people.
This is some kind of vessel that I purchased at a yard sale. They said it was from an art museum. They said it was a shower for sailors. It has a pitcher spout on top and a small rope it hang it up with. It will not stand up on its own.
It appears to made of of clay or possibly even porcelain. It is not that delicate. It is pretty strong.
Can you tell me what it is, what it is used for and what it might be worth?
