Japanese Eggshell porcelain tea service or tennis set

Description

This set is of 5 matching cups and ‘saucers’ and a teapot and sugar bowl.

The patterns are more obviously transfer printed to the porcelain and then hand painted highlights of blossom, seagulls etc. are added in raised white, yellow or green.

Each individual cup has a matching saucer – no two sets are identical. And the main picture on the saucer is reflected in the front of the cup – while the smaller picture inset into the cup-holder area of the base is reflected in the back of the cup.

Measurements:

cup:

diameter of rim 7.5cm or3"

height 5 cm or 2"

 

saucer:

21cm x 12 cm or 8 1/2" x 5"

 

teapot:

with lid - height 19cm or 7.5"

width from spout to handle - 19cm or 7.5"

 

sugar bowl:

width - handle to handle 14cm or 5.5"

height - with lid - 12.5cm or5 "
