450 year old Desk

Category
European Furniture
Condition
Good
Description

This desk is supposed to be  450 years old. My friend is a descendant of the  English Howard family which is where the desk is from, she had no paperwork for it or other history. There are modern screws holding the legs on, it has a few trim pieces missing. Felt has replaced what was leather on thewriting area. Has two deep drawers on each size, one smaller and a drawer in the center. There are also two small drawers on the top part of the desk. And there is a clock that goes with it, which has all it's parts but doesn't work.

savonarola wrought iron chair

Category
Furniture
Condition
Good
Description

This chair was in my grandmothers house and my mother remembers it when she was young - thats the extent of my knowledge I'm sorry to say. I doubt that the leather seat and backrest are original, as I know the lacing cord is not, as my aunt re-laced them at some point due to the previous rotting away. The frame is lightly rusted, the arms worn and have a pitted appearance, it is welded well and solid, weighing 28+ lbs. It appears semetrical but actually has slight differences from right and left, specifically the turns of the flat iron is not some production exact copy, and they are not welded exactly center of the flat iron, differing about 3/16" in their placement, everything else seems to match  precisely. I don't notice any seams in the round stock, and from the weight of it i say the iron is all solid, not tubing. I have google lens'd it and can not find any exact match, as it doesn't fold, isn't fancy ornate. I have gone over the entire frame by magnifying glass and see no designer markings or any markings whatsoever. I can't tell if this is from 1962 or 1762
