Accurate Description of Item
One Late 19th Century Japanese Satsuma Bowl
Appraiser Remarks
Based on the images and the marking, your bowl is late 19th Century Satsuma. Satsuma pottery was made in, or around Kagoshima in Kyushu, Japan in the later part of the 19th century, through to the early 1920's in Satsuma in southern Japan. The raised decoration is called "Morriage" and is commonly found on this type of Japanese ceramics. Satsuma was produced in very large numbers for the Export market, so even though many of these pieces are now over 100 years old, values tend to be modest for most of it.
Estimated Value
$100.00- $150.00
