Chairs like this actually tend to be Victorian period Reproductions, they are often a mix of the Gothic and Renaissance Revival styles which first became popular in the 1840's. Most of them were made in England and Belgium, variants of them were also made in the Black Forest regions of Germany and Switzerland. This one is of a type most often made in Germany.This style is not currently in vogue, its last peak of popularity was in the early 1990's, currently at auction comparable chairs now often sell in the $150.00- $200.00 range. .
