Accurate Description of Item
One French Provincial Sofa
Appraiser Remarks
The style of your sofa is what's referred to as "French Provincial", a simplified version of 18th Century Louis XV furniture. This style was extremely popular, produced during the turn of the 19th Century, the 1930's and again in the 1960's. The best pieces were made in Europe, but furniture of this style was also produced by nearly every major North American furniture manufacturer. Your particular piece appears to be of European manufacture dating from the first quarter of the 20th Century. The European examples differ from the North American varieties in that they still hand built such pieces well into the 20th Century. This one is probably European and dates to the 1930's, but in its current condition has very little value and would need a total restoration. Pieces in need of some restoration or upholstery tend to sell for less $100.00
Estimated Value
$50.00- $100.00
