Vintage Queen Anne Dining Table & Chairs

By Linda6162, 28 October, 2015
Description

My mother-in-law inherited this dining room table and chairs from an elderly friend in Tennessee in 1991 and passed it on to me. Both she and my husband passed away recently and I no longer have room for it following a recent move. Faced with a need to liquidate a few things due to downsizing, I am hoping someone might be able to help me to better identify the brand and value of the set.

I know very little about furniture, in general, and I unfortunately, have very little to go on to try and determine an accurate description of this piece. While the table and chair frames are quality, solid wood, I am unsure if it is cherry wood or mahogany? The table is oval in shape and comes with one leaf extension. Although structured with quality, solid wood, it seemingly has a beautiful veneer table top? There are absolutely no markings or tags anywhere on the table which would indicate anything more about its maker, age, value, etc. Overall condition is very good.

The 6 dining room chairs (4 side, 2 arm) are all also in very good condition and show only slight wear on bottom of some of the legs, indicative of nornal wear and tear relative to age. Although all have been recovered in a very nice burgandy fabric, the original upholstery remains in tact. There are no markings stamped anywhere on any of the chairs to identify them; however, one chair does have a tag still in tact which indicates they were manufactured in Hickory, NC by Chaircraft, Inc., a company no longer in business.

I have spent countless hours researching the internet hoping I might be able to better identify the piece so that I can then, in turn, accurately list and hopefully sell it within fair market guidelines. I have seen many other postings on a number of websites that appear remarkably similar in style and quality; however, I have also found the range on age and value much too broad for someone with such limited knowlege as myself to make that determination.

Therefore, I am putting this in the hands of the experts, and am hoping that someone might be able to shed some light on this for me. Please, take a moment to look at the photos included in this post and share your wisdom with me.

Many thanks in advance for your assistance with this matter. Your help is truly appreciated!
