Very old Pinnoccio Doll

Profile picture for user mlk082110

Description

This is a Very Old doll. As far as I know, the clothes are original. It is a Pinnaccio Doll which belonged to my Great Grandmother. I am 53 yrs. old if that says anything about the age of the doll. The doll was passed down to my grandmother, then to my mother, then to me. Looks to be on the left side of doll where leg goes in, that it works with the arm. Can't really tell. If you move the leg, the arm also tries to move. Doesn't really move that well.

This doll has some cracks in it from aging I suppose. Can anyone give me any information on the date of the doll, and possibly what it may be valued at? I may be willing to sell if the price is right.

I had an antique dealer locally look at it, but don't trust what he had to say. Wanted to offer me 3000.00 for it, so I knew I had to post it here.

Please advise, Tammy

I had an antique dealer here in town look at it, and he estimated around $3000.00 for it, so I wanted to post it here for advice on what it really is worth. Please advise, and Thank youi.

Re: Very old Pinnoccio Doll

This piece is extremely confusing, either it is very very rare or the dealer has no idea what he's doing. The only similar design doll I have been able to find wasn't made until 1940 by freundlich. It is a rare doll, but not worth more than $200-300. It is practially identical to yours and I suspect it is the same thing.

The fact that you were offered that kind of money off the bat again either shows the dealer has no idea what he is doing (and you should RUN back there to get your money) or that the doll identical to yours was some sort of remake of an earlier 19th century piece. Quite frankly I have no idea. I would strongly suggest you contact a toy expert such as Dan morphy auctions or one of the others available out there. It is worth paying for a real experts opinion. You could have a gem or you could have a run of the mill doll. I normally wouldn't be second guessing this doll but again that offer you were given is throwing me way off.

Please return and let us know what you discover regarding this piece. I'm attaching the link of the only doll practically identical to yours I could find. Again I have no idea if yours is the same or not.... this one is in MINT condition and sold for $250.
