Table/chairs/buffett/server/sideboard

By emmielynch, 27 October, 2008
Description

I am not including pictures of the server because it is really in need of restorative work and is out in the garage until I find a qualified person to do the work. The table has, what I believe are called, draw leaves. The leaves pull out from under the table and lock into place. Thanks so much for all of your help!

American Furniture
Medium
wood - possibly oak
Distinguishing marks
Under two of the chairs I found the words "Taub Bros Furn Co. Passaick NJ" but that could have been a reupholstery co
Condition
Good
Size and dimensions of this item
multiple, but table extends to seat ten
Date Period
i know it was in the family for over 75 years
Weight
No idea but I (an average female can carry the dining chairs on my own. I could lift the sideboard just barely, but the server, table and buffett were far too heavy.
History
Some is in excellent condition, while the table I would rate good (simply needs refinishing) and the buffett needs major restorative work. I found it listed on Craigslist with a family that lives in Myrtle Beach SC. The family has had the pieces for more than 75 years and they are originally from Northwestern NY. These are my first antique pieces and I want to try to find some more info about the items. I am not so concerned about the value and simply knowing a little more about the items. What type of antiques are they (victorian, etc) and approximately how old. An estimation of price is fine too, I just am more interested in some details on the items.
