I obtained this hand crank sewing machine five or six years ago in England at a small town auction. The serial number is V443727 which would date it to 1908 from what I have been able to find. Also, it was manufactured at the Singer Clydebank Scotland manufacturing facility.
The case seems to be unique and I havenât been able to find one similar in my research. It almost resembles a âcoffinâ and has handles on both ends. The case lid hinges on one end, and the other is secured with a key to the base for transportation. The case is in very good condition for its age, with some minor scrapes and scratches from wear. The sewing machine also appears to be in very good shape. There is some wear around the decals in one spot at the front and left side, but not as much as I would expect. The hand-crank handle hinges folds in to fit in the case
Can anyone provide any details on the case and any estimation of value? We are downsizing and we must part with our collections.
