Scandalli Accordian - stamped \"9 Made in Italy 266/147\"

By crowbird, 12 December, 2011
Description

have an old Scandalli Accordian I am looking to see what the value of this is, model,  and year it was manufactuered. The only markings are on the case and it has a round logo with Scandalli on it. On the bottom it has stamped \"9 Made in Italy 266/147\" It is white and red. I inclosed pictures if that willl help. I am interested in the year this was made and any other information you may have on this particular model. It is in excellent working order and has the original case with the key. This had been stored away in a stroage locaker that hadn't been touch for many years. I sent an email to Scandalli and this was the response I received from them.

"

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your email.

The Scandalli brand ( from 1900 ) is amongst the oldest in the world

and over the years has manufactured hundreds of different models.

We have been producing Scandalli  for the past 25 years but unfortunately,

the original factory records were destroyed or mislaid before we could get

hold of them. It is therefore difficult for us to give information or an

accurate age to an instrument preceeding our tenure of this brand.

Further, the valuation of any instrument depends on its age, condition,

country and desirability. As a general rule, old Italian accordions do not

attract the same sums as attributed to old Italian violins for example and

often the cost of repair or overhaul far outweighs any commercial value,

usually the accordion in question has more of a sentimental value.

Also parts for any repair work or replacement are usually difficult to

obtain and are often taken from accordions of a similar age.

For this reason we recommend that you seek an expert opinion in your

country.

We wish you good luck with your research

Yours sincerely,

Scandalli Accordions srl
