S Bent Oak table and chairs

By kathdal424, 29 April, 2009
Description

S Bent solid Oak table with 4 leaves. Base pedestal seperates to allow leaves to be placed in table. Chairs with "bow" back. All chairs without arms. Each chair has a brand with S Bent & Bros 351. Each chair also has other numbers branded on them ex. 1289 539. The table has 939 branded on the underside and a date stamped Nov 15, 1980. I think the stamp is 1980 but it is hard to tell because of the ink bleeding.

Re: S Bent Oak table and chairs

The 80's were a very big period for late Victorian Furniture, which manufacturers were quick to take advantage of and produce modern versions of " Golden Oak Furniture" by the hundreds of thousands. Most of these sets now are unloved at auction, I saw one go the other night for less than $400.00 ( table and four chairs.
