Roll Top Desk w Chair

By wood1026, 21 July, 2019
Description

I am wondering if anyone can help me with some information on this roll top desk. I bought it from a couple who received it from their wife's boss. From what I was told it is 1960 or older. other than that I cannot find a maker's stamp or mark. Any info anyone could shed would be greatly appreciated. A value would also be appreciated although I am not sure I would ever sell it as I have been looking forever to find one.

Re: Roll Top Desk w Chair

I doubt it dates much earlier than the early 1980's, I don't know of any being made in the 1950's and it's not one made during the heyday of their original popularity at the turn of the 19th Century.

Re: Roll Top Desk w Chair

thank you I'm going to hold out hope it's a little older than that. the person I purchased it from his wife received it from her boss who says he had purchased it before the date you placed on it. But thank you very much for your input I will keep researching it. In any event it's a solid piece any idea of value? I posted a pic of the lock maybe that will help narrow down a date. Thanks again for your help.
