Painting of Coast, by Robert Weeks

By [email protected], 5 February, 2011
Description

This may be a painting of the California Coast.  My grandmother had this painting in her possession since I was born, 1975.  She and her friends are no longer living, so I cannot ask about its origin.  She could not have paid much for it because she never could afford it.  It's possible a friend gave it to her.  Her husband was a massage therapist for the Senators on the east coast, where they lived a short time, and then a physical therapist in Los Angeles, so he had a regular client base.  It's possible a client gave it to them.  The painting has a beautiful view of the rocky coast with vigorous waves.  It looks like the sun is still out.  Water is blue, sky is almost clear with some clouds, some small waves have crashed on rocky outcropping in the foreground, another large wave started to crash and is coming towards the coast, and beyond the large wave in the near distance there are other waves coming towards shore.  The oil is slightly rough, not smooth, but also not a thick layer of oil.  Painting signed Robert Weeks at bottom right.  I want to sell it after I get an accurate appraisal.
