Painting

I am interested to find out more about this antique oil painting that my mom used to say that it belonged to my grandparents and it was very old; however, I have no information of the period, history or details about the paint. I contacted one of my uncles to see if he could shed some light, but I have not heard from him as of yet. Based in what I could observe, the painting 28 x 50 – the frame in what I believe to be an egg and dart ornamental pattern, i.e., consisting of an egg and dart shape alternating. At least that is what I think it is. What I know about the design was often carved out of stone, wood, or plaster. This pattern is found in Ancient Greek architecture and was used by the Romans. I also know that this classical antiquity was commonly copied in the 16th and early 17th centuries. Then, it was revived again during the 19th century by the vogue of Gothicism. Please advise if you concur that the pattern is indeed an egg and dart. As for the painting itself, its oil on wood, it seems, not in canvas.
