Noritake Double Gold Band Plate

By TracyR, 5 October, 2009
Description

Edges are rimmed with gold (looks like 24K) About 1 inch in at the ridge is another gold band. The china is cream in color. They are decorated with mostly gray flowers with some pink/lavender near the center of the flower and some greenery. This decoration is in the center of all pieces except for the cups and there is a total of 4 flowers taking up much of the inner area. I've looked online at some markings and notice mine does not have "hand painted" printed on the back but does have, in gold, Noritake China above a gold wreath surrounding the letter M and below the wreath it is stamped Made in Japan. The cups have the flowers on the front of the cup and consists of 2 flowers and greenery, gold bands around the edge and 1 inch inside the cup, gold edging along sides and down the center of the handle and along the bottom edge of the cup. The saucers only have the 2 gold bands - no flowers.

History
Uncle bought overseas while serving in WWII or Korean War for his mother. He gave this set to me about 15 years ago. I don't think she ever used. She still plowed her garden with a mule until the 1990's by her choice. Fine china wasn't put up.
