Many famous artists of the 19th Century reproduced works by the Masters in

an effort to improve their skill and to honor the work of those who came before.

You should contact the closest museum and meet with the curator for a closer

inspection.  You can also contact Christies, Sotheby's, Bonhams, etc. for a free

appraisal. These fine auction houses do not charge for a preliminary inspection if it is something that they deal in and they certainly deal in this type of art.  You can also go to the local

library and check out books on European Artists of the 19th Century.
