JBL Metregon speaker system w/jade inlay cabinet

By sallyoberstein, 13 July, 2016
Description

I have an original JBL Metregon speaker cabinet/system with JBL 130 speakers. My father recently died and this is one of
the items he left to me. I have found JBL speaker
cabinets online that have sold between $7000 and $15,000, but none with the jade inlay. It originally belonged to an eccentric great uncle who worked for Universal Studios in the 1920s. He owned the best of everything.
The dimensions of the cabinet are 74 (L) X 25 (W) X 29 (H). There is minor damage in two places across the bottom, and maybe is missing one of the six legs.. It stands up just fine and the speakers work beautifully.

History
This cabinet/speaker system is very well-preserved. It originally belonged to my father's uncle who died in the 60s. My father had it since then. He recently died and it was passed along to me. My great-uncle was an eccentric man who owned the best of everything. He worked in Universal Studios and the facility he was eventually moved into before he died, was an actor's "home", where all the other residents were famous people. He had plenty of money.

Any idea what the value of this is and how the Jade effects the value of this piece?
