Hutschenreuther of Bavaria China

By aniederf, 9 July, 2021
Description

57 piece (6 place settings plus serving dishes, etc.) They are pieces manufactured by Hutschenreuther of Bavaria, Germany around 1943 -1945. It is marked on the back with 'Huttschenreuther Gelb' with a Lion circled with the letters 'LHS', and 'Bavaria' Germany Jurvel.  Sent to USA from Germany from my father after WWII.  All pieces have an insignia and “In Omnia Paratus” which was the insignia of the First Battalion also known as "The Big Red One".  Wondering what the approximate value is, and willing to sell the set.

Re: Hutschenreuther of Bavaria China

I think yours is the 1939 - 1965 Hutschenreuther Selb LHS Bavaria Germany mark.
The unit crest insignia 18th Infantry Regiment Unit Crest (In Omnia Paratus) makes me think this would sell better under militaria.
This info was previously posted on Instappraisal https://instappraisal.com/appraisal/hutschenreuther-selb-china-set

In Omnia Paratus means prepared in all things, that is ready for anything. I think the military aspect of this and your father’s history might be where your research should follow. Maybe he had them made?
I also think that word is Jurvel not Turvel.
You can scroll down to WWII here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/18th_Infantry_Regiment_(United_States)#Wo… to find some info on the regiment.
I haven’t found any sold for prices on similar but these are being sold now on eBay. You could watch and see if they sell https://www.ebay.com/itm/254835704833?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DR…

Re: Hutschenreuther of Bavaria China

Mark,
Thanks for the reply. I will take your advice on "Jurvel" vs. "Turvel" (I think one meaning of Jurvel is "legal"; and I can find nothing for "Turvel") and posting under military items. Yes, as an old (that's the operative word here) Latin student, I was aware of the meaning of Omnia Paratus. Again, thanks!
