Hooker Bassett Furniture Co. Wardrobe No. 21 ROBE

By ngreeno21, 2 April, 2017
Description

The stapled tag on the back says it was sent from the Hooker Bassett Furniture Company Martinsville, Virginia to Garfolda's Furniture Store, Utica, N.Y. It is stamped NO 21 ROBE. Undernearth that, there is also some kind of chalk writing below it.

The outside has been painted a redish color, but the inside is cedar wood. It has the original brass knobs (they look green in the picture but just need to be cleaned; they do not look green to the eye).

I have looked at a lot of Hooker Bassett Furniture, but have not come across many wardrobes, and none like this. I am looking for the age of this piece, as well as it's value.

Thank you for your help!

Re: Hooker Bassett Furniture Co. Wardrobe No. 21 ROBE

Based on the images I'd say it dates to the first quarter of the 20th Century, but wardrobes like this can  date into the 1930's. No huge value in its present state, about $150.00 at auction.
