hand painted plate

Description

Hello, my mother just passed away and left a few things behind that I know nothing about. I may be interested in selling, but at this point not sure. I would like to find out more about the piece, the artist, the age and the value.

I believe it's made out of ceramic.
Distinguishing marks
signature is on the front (it's written in a style that's difficult to read the lettering). "hand painted" is on the back of the plate

This is an example of "White…

This is an example of "White Ware", most of it made either in Austria or Limoges France. There were many factories doing business in Limoges, France at the turn of the last century through to the 1930's that sold undecorated pottery and porcelain blanks to Decorating studios that would paint them and resell them. Demand for porcelain like this last peaked during the late 1980's and has been in decline since that time. Most comparable plates go at auction often for under $25.00.
