Description
Solid mahogany curio cabinet. Hand carved with floral pattern. has beveled glass doors, mirrored back.
It appears to have had feet at some point, no longer w/ the piece.
Hand carved border on top is missing left side and 2 finials.
Mirrors may have been resilvered at some point, the backing does not appear to be original.
This belonged to my Great-Grandmother, and I believe she got it in the early 20"s.
measures- 52" long, 13" wide and 48" high.
Re: Hand carved mahogany/ beveled glass curio
Looks like what was left of a late Victorian/early Edwardian Curio Cabinet after the base was cut off, This was sometimes done to make them into a hanging wall cabinet. As an altered piece it's vale would be greatly diminished, We'd retail it as an altered wall cabinet for about $450.00
Re: Hand carved mahogany/ beveled glass curio
Thank you for your reply!
It looks like it had feet on the bottom, and it seems like it would be WAY too large (and heavy) to hang on a wall.
Do you have a picture of the type you are speaking of? It would be interesting to see.
It's been in this configuration in the 43 years I have been alive, my Mother, Grandmother and Great grandmother have all passed, so I cannot get any further history, unfortunately.
Thanks, again!
