Re: Gold Jaguar with Diamond Eyes Pin

Leopard figural jewelry first became popular shortly after 1914 when famed jewel house Cartier released its first panther design. Their popularity skyrocketed after Wallis Simpson -- the glamorous American divorcée whom King Edward VIII abicated the crown of England in order to marry-- commissioned three panther pieces (two brooches and a bracelet) from 1948-1950. Reproductions or homages in semiprecious and nonprecious materials took off around that time and continued in popularity through the early 70's, though they're still a popular motif. I suspect your piece is one of those homages made sometime between 1960-1980. Duplicates of your particular pin are currently selling on Etsy and eBay from between $18-$25
