Oval Glass Coffee Table with Hoof Feet and Central Pinecone Fini

Item Description:
This is a large, oval-shaped coffee table featuring a beveled glass top set within a metal frame. The base consists of four arched metal legs joined by an X-stretcher. Notably, the legs terminate in finely detailed cast brass (or bronze-tone) hoof feet, a motif seen in neoclassical or French-inspired designs. The center of the stretcher is adorned with a decorative pineapple or pinecone finial, a classic symbol of hospitality and a nod to traditional decorative arts.

Materials:

  • Top: Beveled glass
  • Frame: Painted or patinated metal (possibly wrought iron or aluminum)
  • Decorative accents: Brass or brass-finished metal (hoof feet and central finial)

Dimensions:

  • Height: 17 inches
  • Width: 63 inches
  • Depth: 33 inches

Condition:
Good condition overall. Some minor surface scratches are present on the glass, but the metal frame and decorative elements appear intact with mild wear, consistent with age.

Estimated Date:
Based on the styling—particularly the hoof feet and pineapple finial—this piece most likely dates to the 1970s–1980s. These features are reminiscent of mid-20th-century Hollywood Regency or neoclassical revival designs, which commonly incorporated such dramatic flourishes.

Value Estimate (as of 2025):

  • Retail (decorator market or boutique vintage): $400–$700
  • Auction or private resale: $200–$400
  • Local thrift or estate sale: $100–$250

Values may vary based on regional demand, with higher values in urban areas with active vintage or designer furniture markets.

Recommendations:
If you're considering selling or insuring the piece, or if you want a firm valuation for provenance or estate planning, a formal appraisal may be helpful. I recommend contacting a certified appraiser who specializes in mid-century or decorative arts, such as:
