Craftsman/Mission????Full Oak Bed Northern Furniture Company made in Sheboygan

By jmacd, 28 October, 2012
Description

Hi - I am trying to get a ballpark value of a bed I purchased. It has a tag on the foot rails that reads Northern Furniture company made in Sheboygan. I can't find any beds that are for sale that are similar or any at all.  The bed is in really good shape. The wood was dry, but I oiled it and it looks great. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Re: Craftsman/Mission????Full Oak Bed Northern Furniture...

The Northern Furniture Company was founded in 1881 by George B. Mattoon in Sheboygan, Wisconsin; (although the company at that time known as the Mattoon Manufacturing company up until Mattoon's death in 1904). In 1916, the company was bought by the Reiss Coal Company, and from that point on the firm manufactured a large number of popular bookcases, buffets, tables and desks up until 1949, during which the company went through yet another name change to R-Way Furniture. This bed is in the Mission Style, we'd retail one like this for about $600.00.
