Compass or Pelorus

Description

Wood base with 8 sides with bronze plate, and small compass in the center circle with painted compass on unknown surface
Carved bronze base engraved with scrolls and very decorative, with Dedicatua E Medici engraved on the outer circle. The circle is engraved with numbers in 10's from 0 to 90 and back again. Inside the circle is a square, with scrolls around it. Each side of the square has numbers 12, 8, 4, with a hard line and then 4, 8, 12 on the same side of the square. Attached to the base is a center (painted) compass inside a bronze basket with blades that are attached, which move in a circle over the bronze plate. Attached to it above is a perpendicular half circle with same decorative engraving and numbered markings, with a viewer attached to the very top with view finder on both ends. The half circle is engraved with Alti Metra.
