Description
This is a 4-panel, 34.75" H x 59"W paint-on-paper screen. It has a fabric mat and back over wood (I presume). There is writing in two sizes and 2 chops in the upper right corner. I know nothing about it, other than that it's bold and stunning. It came from an estate on the East Coast of the US, probably from the mid-Atlantic states, possibly Maryland's Eastern Shore. Is the artist known? Is this from a recognized era or school? What do the words translate to and mean with regards to the peacocks? Does it have a value for insurance purposes? Is it worth repairing the water damage and the lifting paper, and how would I find a conservator?
Thanks for anything you can tell me.
