Description
Lightweight wooden cigar box. Top has oval with LA VENTANA DE A. LOPEZ Y C A HABANA. Above oval says BOITE NATURE, either side says PRIVADA and SELECION. Under side of lid repeats oval and says THE CHICAGO CLUB. Hinges and latches are intact. It came through US customs in 1910 according to the United States Customs tag on the bottom of the box. It was just a really neat find and I was curious if there was any interesting history to it.
Re: Chicago Club Cigar Box
Not much to tell really, up until the Cuban revolution in the late 1950's Exports of Cuban cigars to the USA was pretty common.
Values for cigar boxes depend on the decoration of the labels and condition, but very few sell at auction for more than $35.00.
