Cast Iron Pumper Truck

By jehart, 17 May, 2009
Description

My Dad was very into cast iron toys and found a couple of pieces over the years at estate sales and garage sales etc. I think this was made by Grey Iron or what is now known as the Wright Company in Penn. Not sure if this is origional or replica. Toy has no markings on it expect for the single digit numbers on the trucks. In addition to this piece I also have a Ice Truck with the same number markings and a horse drawn wood hauling wagon.

Re: Cast Iron Pumper Truck

Sorry, I strongly believe you have a replica. There are a few features that point that way, but the easiest to see is in the horses.

The original maker of these toys was very careful in the molding and assembly. They would not have put out a toy with a wide gap between the two pieces as you see in the horses. That came later with the 'knock off' copies.

The others are difficult to see in your photos, but combined with the gap, I think that you have a later copy.
