Brescia 1654 Giovan Paolo Maggini Violin

By stacey.morris4…, 12 January, 2019
Description

I obtained this violin from my mother.   It was her father's and he acquired this violin from his girlfriend prior to his marriage to my grandmother in 1948.  My grandfather was from Pemiscot County, MO.

The violin is marked in the body of the violin, as follows:

"Giovan Paolo Maggini

Brescia 1654".

The violin bears the signature scroll on the neck, double purfing, and the back measures 14 1/16th (36 cm).  The violin has a two piece back.

I've attached pictures for review.

Many thanks!
