Asian? Bronze Vessel? Brazier? Censer?

By gena, 10 August, 2009
Description

I inherited this from a great aunt who collected Asian antiquities. The only thing I know for sure is that it's bronze. I've tried to research it on my own but have failed to find anything similar. Because of it's shape and the rooster/phoenix? head, my family refers to it as the "chicken ship"! I would appreciate any info I can find on its origins and value.

Re: Asian? Bronze Vessel? Brazier? Censer?

Looks like copper due to the green verdigris.
