Antique Walnut Chair

By bobbage, 7 September, 2014
Description

Purchase this chair a little over a year ago during an estate auction here in northcentar Kansas.

This chair seems to be well taken care of with no signs of being refinished, however I do know much about its origin

It was sold along with others items 'unlisted' in an estate sale for the late three star general Richard J. Seitz. I'm not completely sure whether this chair was part of the generals property since this sale was mixed between other estates.

Re: Antique Walnut Chair

Oh I wish I had better news for you...but this chair is a 20th Century reproduction of a 18th Century Windsor "Braceback" chair. It's hard to tell from the images, but this one appears to be constructed of maple rather than walnut or oak. Values for these are far less than what you paid, we pick up similar chairs at auction for less than $50.00.

Re: Antique Walnut Chair

wow!

Bad news for me. That's something I did not expect to learn about this chair. I knew that its in great condition for what I thought was a chair from the late 19th century. Do you have any idea when this chair may have been reproduced?

I also with to thank you LOVEJOY.
