Antique tall boy dresser drawer with Secretary Desk

Profile picture for user jb.kitty1

Description

This is a rather unique piece as far as I can tell by the research I've done thus far on it...unique because while it's obviously a tall boy dresser, but not so obvious is the fact that the face of the second drawer actually drops down and the drawer pulls out revealing a lovely secretary desk! It's either solid mahogany or maple wood....I'm leaning towards mahogany....I'm guessing that "Burns" was the Mfg. and "C.R. Stewart & Sons" the seller...."C.R. Stewart" stands for "Calvin Reed" Stewart who was a funeral director/casket maker who lived in the 1800's...I originally thought he was the maker, but have been told that it was Burns who was.....some nit-wit previous owner had the bright idea to spray paint the exterior of the piece w/gloss black ....did a fairly decent job on most of it, but far from "perfect".....I am interested in selling this piece and am hoping for feedback from this community as to what a fair and reasonable selling price might be. Thanks and warm regards from sunny and insanely hot, Scottsdale, AZ!!
