Antique Pickle jar

By mrsfields53, 22 April, 2009
Description

Cranberry glass thumbprint antique pickle caster. Stunning frame in excellent condition. The silver plate pickle holder is really gorgeous and has all the lovely decoration on the handle and base that a collector looks for. It is stamped "BARBOUR BROS. CO. NY QUADRUPLE PLATE Hard White Metal". The frame stands straight does not wobble, no broken pieces and the plating is very good. It includes birds on the top handle and spokes and flowers to the sides. The impressive jar I believe is original to the stand as it fits perfectly. The condition of the hand blown jar is excellent, clean with wonderful glass clarity (some bubbles visible), no chips, cracks or rim roughness and the raised enamel painting has no wear that I can find. The pretty 6 1/2 inch decorated tongs hang on their hook are also are in wonderful condition (not sure if they are original) to the set. Castor frame stands 11 inches high by 6 inches at widest. Insert jar stands 5 1/4 inches high and is 3 1/2 inches wide at the widest.
