1938 Phico radio phonograph 39-116pcx chassis with mystery controller

By gdmedicine, 14 May, 2009
Description

do not have pic. the chassis, radio and phongraph are all intact with original parts...needs some restoration/repair of wiring..has radio on one side and phonograph on other...also has 2 bottom cabinets for storage of records. the raio has the big dials that turn up and down instead of sideway and the phongraph has all the parts including needle holder. i am hoping to find out what the value is now VS the value if i have it restored. i was told by one company in ny that they would use the same stain as the company did when it was made and that would actually increase the value...i would like to know if this is true or not.
i would like to thank anyone who can help

Re: 1938 Phico radio phonograph 39-116pcx chassis with ...

There is not much demand for old radio/Phono combo's in the general Antique market. We find them very hard to sell, except to dedicated collector's, who seldom want to pay more than a couple of hundred dollars. Reason being most sets of this vintage need a complete rebuild. I'd sell it "as is", the cost of refinishing is more than this set is worth.
