1928 Regal Octofone

By mssparki, 21 August, 2009
Description

It was advertised as "Eight instruments in One". Regal claimed: The owner of the Octophone has the advantage of combining eight different instruments in one, namely Tenor Banjo, Tenor Guitar, Mandolin, Mandola, Mandocello, Ukulele, Tiple and Taropatch. The soundhole label reads "The Mark of Better Instruments, Made by the Regal Musical Instrument Co., Chicago." with a crown logo. The one I have comes with the case, which the case is definately worn and about to fall apart. The instrument is approx. 33" long, and, although some of the strings are missing, and it could use a good cleaning, is in fair to good condition for the age. All the wood is in tact.

Re: 1928 Regal Octofone

These were more of a tenor and baritone ukulele shaped like a mandolin. It is made of spruce and maple. Since I assume it has its original case and nothing has been replaced, I would say it's worth about $500-2,000 depending on its condition.
