18th Century Palace Temple Censer

Description

House of CUGUCI estate collection. This is a one of a kind solid bronze palace temple censer, circa 18th century. It was converted into a lamp during world war II and then again rewired in the late 19th century. The lantern has three gates that open to the inside, one of the gates has a lotus with a circle etched onto the inside of the doors. The base and top are adorned with a lotus and the entire piece is surounded by upward and downward facing vajras as well as etchings in ancient chinese typical of that era, the inscription is of Buddhists nature and talkes about three kingdoms and the ming king as well as makes mention of two palaces. It is missing one of the dragon heads as well as the brass bells that adorned them.
