Antique Settee Mid 1800s

Profile picture for user Lovejoy
By Lovejoy, 5 February, 2017
Accurate Description of Item
One Upholstered Victorian Settee
Appraiser Remarks
Based on what I can see this piece dates from the third quarter of the 19th Century, similar examples were made on both sides of the Atlantic ocean. This one though has most likely been modified from its original form, generally pieces like this had more exposed woodwork on the back and armrests, which appear to have been upholstered over.

Victorian Upholstered pieces like this are not currently in vogue, the market last peaked for furniture of this type in the early 1990's. Currently comparable pieces often now sell for under $450.00.
Estimated Value
$275.00- $375.00
