Metal Bat

Category
Folk Art
Condition
Good
Description

I think this is made of iron, but not sure.

This was owned by an elderly man who I think was from Poland. He told his wife that "in the old country people would make and hang these over their doorways to keep out illness and negative energy. He left it to me when he pased away in 1999. I have never been able to find any info abiut it. I listed under folk art because I was not sure where it fits.

This is a oil on canvas painting by Tretchico. The name of the painting is Chinese Girl. This is 1 of 2 painting of the same name with slightly different poses. It is 13 inches wide by 13 1/2 inches long. I believe they are in the original frames.

Quarter sawn oak breakfront

Category
Furniture
Condition
Excellent
Description

This belonged to my Grandfather. It is at least 100 years old. It is hand carved, with either Griffin heads or lions heads. It is all original. The curved glass is held in place by wood and rope. It has a skeleton key lock. I do not know why, but apparently when carving, square nails were used to possibly mark the designs as there are what appear to be square nail holes around the eggs and the heads.

China

Category
China
Condition
Good
Description

This China belonged to my grandma, I have had it for about 15 years, but I'm sure she had it much longer. I'm not sure how old it is. It is in good condition with only 1 or 2 cracks/chips in the large set. It has 4 different sizes of plates, 8 of each. It has 8 teacups, 8 small desert bowls, a large platter, a large oval bowl, a large round bowl, and a sugar bowl with lid. Printed on the bottom of each piece it says, Aristrocrat by Salem China Co.  made in USA 23 Karat gold, V 17. It has a floral pattern in the center and a burgundy color around the edges with gold trim and detail.

Double Larkin (Larken?)

Category
American Furniture
Condition
Excellent
Description

I have a tiger oak double Larkin china hutch. It has two curved glass doors with shelves behind each, and a middle section with a mirror at the top, a drop-down desk leaf with cubby-holes behind the leaf, and 3 drawers below that. It is about 5 or 6 feet tall. It was my grandmother's. It has scroll work above the mirror and back above the glass doors.

I am having one of the curved glass panels in one of the doors replaced. It was broken by movers.

My mother had it refinished, which brought the tiger oak to view (before it looked black). She was offered $10,000.00 by the guy who she hired to refinish it (before she had it refinished). That was about 20 years ago.
