Nichols & stone rocker

Category
American Furniture
Condition
Good
Description

I purchased this rocker for a project and I wanted to find out more about it.  I’ve searched online but I have not seen a similar style that is a rocker (only chairs). There are a number of markings under the seat with the manufacturer information and I included those pictures. I’d appreciate any information! Thanks

Chair

Category
American Furniture
Condition
Fair
Description

My wife bought this chair at an estate sale in Yreka, CA. It appears to be made out of oak using no joinery. Everything is connected with slotted screws. There is a number on the back of the chair, which seems to have been done by inlay.

I'm sure that the brass-colored casters on the legs are not period, as they have Phillip head screws and do not seem to belong based on attachment.

I'm curious what type of chair it is. What purpose it was designed for. And of course, approximate value.

This specimen, acquired through auction as grape agate, presents a unique combination of features. It exhibits a solid base structure topped with a botryoidal formation, displaying a rich purple interior. The botryoidal surface transitions in color from whitish to lavender, complementing the bluish-lavender hue of the main body. We are interested in further insights regarding this intriguing specimen.
